WHY CENTURION?

OUR FATHERS & MOTHERS

CHRISTIAN,
COME, AND SERVE.

OUR PILLARS OF EDUCATION

  • C H R I S T - D R I V E N

    READ. PRAY. SING. DAILY.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”
    John 14:6

At Centurion Christian Classical School, Christ is not an addition to our curriculum—He is the center and circumference of all truth and learning. We exist to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in every subject and every aspect of school life. We believe that education divorced from Christ is not true education, for all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Him (Colossians 2:3).

Each school day begins with the reading of Scripture, prayer, and song, not as a formality, but as a joyful submission to the Lord who speaks, saves, and sanctifies. We do not “have chapel”; we open the Word of God, and the Word opens us. It is here that the soul is formed, the mind is renewed, and the heart is directed toward eternal things. In all things, whether in grammar or geometry, science or singing, we confess Christ as Lord, the precious One in whom all things hold together (Colossians 1:17).

Apart from Him, we can do nothing.

    SEEK YE THE OLD PATHS

“Thus says the LORD: ‘Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.’”
    Jeremiah 6:16

Centiurion is a Christian and then a Classical education. The term “classical” comes from the Latin word classicus, meaning "of the highest class" or "first-rate." However, this is not merely a method; it is training these young souls in a way that is time-tested and that shows them a way of being. In other words, this is training in the Christian way of life. We believe, with Augustine, that “all truth is God’s truth,” and with the Reformers, that all disciplines find their unity in the knowledge of God. Theology is not a compartment of the curriculum—it is the crown and cornerstone. As Clark and Jain rightly affirm, “Theology unifies the curriculum... All things were created by God and by Him all things continue to exist.”

The classical liberal arts tradition liberates students from the tyranny of relativism and self-centered thought. It trains them to reason well, speak winsomely, and live wisely. By returning to the rich inheritance of the trivium and quadrivium, and by steeping students in the great books, the great ideas, and the Great Commission, we cultivate free men and women, free not to do as they please, but free to do as they ought.

In choosing the classical path, we do not cling to the past for nostalgia’s sake, but for the sake of truth, because it is the ancient path that leads to life, and in it we find rest for our souls.

  • AFFORDABLE

“And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children.”
    Deuteronomy 6:6-7 ESV

The average cost of private school tuition in California is $16,000. While the Centurion model removes the monetary barrier to an excellent Christian classical education, there is still a cost: obedience. We want to serve fathers and mothers who diligently desire to obey God’s mandate to educate their children. Therefore, we only charge a curriculum fee of $100 per month for materials. We rely upon the provision of Christ’s local and universal church to support this mission field. Our teachers, staff, and volunteers serve in the mission field of the family.

  • DISCIPLESHIP

“Go therefore and MAKE disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, TEACHING them to observe all that I have COMMANDED you.”
    Mathew 28:19-20

We serve under the authority and at the pleasure of Christian fathers and mothers who want to obey the Lord in this blessed command. Children must be trained and shown the wonder, truth, goodness, excellence, and beauty of Jesus Christ, who is THE TRUTH.

CONTRAST BRINGS CLARITY, AND THE RESULTS OF THE GOOD SOIL REPORT MAKE IT CLEAR THAT CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN EDUCATION IS THE BEST CHOICE FOR CHRISTIAN FAMILIES.

This COMPARATIVE STUDY conducted by Cartas and the University of Notre Dame produced a body of research which seems to confirm what history has repeatedly demonstrated—classical Christian education can influence the course of a home, a community, or a nation. See the results for yourself.

We are looking for passionate believers who love Christ, love children and love to learn. If this is you, join the CENTURION Missionary Faculty and become part of the vision to educate a new generation of equipped leaders in the church and citizens for the world. We are seeking TK-4 teachers for the 2025/2026 school year. ALL Centurion teachers MUST pass a LifeScan background check.

Once we arrive at our five year anniversary in 2027, we will seek ACCS Accreditation and ACCS Teacher certification.

GIVERS

CHURCHES • VOLUNTEERS • DONORS

This work requires a true communal Christian effort. Whether you are a pastor, elder, or member of a local church that is able to dedicate funds and/or facilities, or perhaps you are an individual, couple, or family blessed to be in a season of giving, we invite you to partner with Centurion.

Our donors see what we see: education is primarily about the formation of the soul. As a CENTURION donor, you are contributing to God’s work in the discipleship and development of our youth. This school will flourish only through God’s providence and people’s generosity; without it, CENTURION cannot exist. If you have a specialized gift idea for CENTURION, please call or email us. FOR KELLY

1969-2023

We praise our sovereign Lord for KELLY KAGOSHIMA, who the Lord brought home on July 1st of 2023. Kelly died due to ALS, but she lived in the light and hope of Jesus Christ. Her devotion to Centurion as an advocate, donor, and prayer supporter will remain with us always. Kelly was a dedicated supporter of what the Lord is doing here at Centurion. She believed in Classical Christian Education and our missionary teacher model, as well as the importance of offering an affordable choice to Christian families in our community. But most importantly, Kelly believed in the Christ-driven model that defines Centurion.

Kelly’s LAST QUILT, which she made by hand and gave to Centurion for a special fundraiser, has been gifted back to the school, where it will serve as a reminder of the beautiful saints God has sent our way. This lovely piece of art will always prompt us to remember just how gracious and wonderful a Savior we have. May God bless the Kagoshima family as they grieve and press on toward the upward call of Christ. Our Lord works to encourage and embolden the saints through people like Kelly, and her legacy of loving others abundantly will live on in all who have been touched by her life.

Welcome home, Kelly. Welcome to the celestial city.
